Enchant your Guests this Christmas Season
Enchant your Guests this Christmas Season!!
It’s that time of year to enchant your guests!! And what a better time to do it during the festive season when entertaining is at an all-time high!!
Christmas is the ultimate season for hosting, exchanging gifts, tree trimming parties and cozy dinners and brunches.
What a better place to make memories by gathering with friends and family around your dining room table. Let the fun begin!!
Firstly, set the mood. From traditional and elegant to whimsey and casual, the possibilities are endless to deck out your table. Curate your favourite Christmas theme to evoke the spirit of the season.
Its a Traditional Christmas:
If you are going with the traditional look, stick with varying shades of red, green and golds. Create a festive centerpiece with shiny baubles, fold your napkins into Christmas trees and set the table with a damask pattern tablecloth. Add charger plates with a touch of greenery that is emblematic of mistletoe or boughs of holly. Add a touch of class by providing a name tag for each of your guests. To help you get inspired, we're sharing our favorite Christmas table-setting ideas that evoke the spirit of the season.
Anything goes!!
Maybe you want to go with a more eclectic look by combining traditional with every day! There is no rule that you must pick one. You might fall in love with that shabby chic linen tablecloth or runner but want to add in your grandmother’s beautiful cut crystal with fine bone China dinner plates. You can easily tie the items you want on your table together by using a common colour theme and repeating some elements. For example, you have that shabby chic table runner with a hint of green. Repeat this colour in your napkins or toss in a hit of green in your center piece. You can also add some silver cutlery or napkin rings to tie in with your silver candle sticks!
Feel free to layer it up!
Put on your favorite tablecloth then layer it with both a runner and placemats. The rule of thumb is to pick up your colour theme from one of the colours in your printed fabric. Also, don’t be afraid to use different textures while keeping with your colour theme. You can use a runner and layer it with some metallic petal placemats, then add some dark linen napkins for a little drama. Casual and simplistic!
Maybe you prefer the everyday causal simplistic look? If you have a beautiful wooden table that is worth showing, you can pass on the tablecloth. Sometimes you can cover all the space you need by using table runners running horizontally across the table. This adds an interesting look while still showing the beauty of your table.
Keep it interesting.
Don’t feel that you must use the same colours in all the dishware, or for that matter even the same glasses or cutlery. We decided to mix it up with both white and plaid. The red & green plates highlight the center piece perfectly!! Even the cutlery can create some interest. If you have several sets of silverware, feel free to mix up the different patterns.
Glam it up!
Make your center piece your focal point! Glam it up with a sparkly lit vases and loads of pillar and taper candles. In our center piece we chose to do a traditional holiday look to keep up with the colour theme! We added some greenery with some simple wooden snowflakes. We tossed in some battery-operated lights to really draw attention. With some poinsettias in an Old St. Nick Pitcher. Pops of colour is a sure way to add in some dramatics!
