How To Autumn Up Your Home
Fall is just around the corner and it is time to put away the summer flowers and bright colours for the autumn leaves and rich yellows and oranges. Follow along with our best tips to get your home feeling like fall.
Scent
As fall rolls in and the crisp, cool air settles in, candles and diffusers become essential for creating the perfect cozy setting for a relaxing fall night in. The soft glow of a flickering candle casts a warm, comforting light, while it's rich, autumnal scents, think spiced pumpkin, crisp apple, or smoky cedar, fill the room with a seasonal charm.
Meanwhile, diffusers offer a more subtle, continuous fragrance, with essential oils like cinnamon, clove, and vanilla gently permeating the space. Together, these elements not only transform your home into a haven of relaxation but also celebrate the essence of fall, making it a perfect retreat from the chill outside.

Colors
Mix subtle yellows, rich oranges and deep red tones with earthy browns, all colours associated with autumn. You can easily incorporate these colours into your space with toss cushions, blankets & decor items such as candles, trays or florals!
You also want to keep in mind the colour pallet of your existing space. If you have a very cool toned space with a lot of greys, think of adding in deep purples, sage greens, muted oranges and soft pinks!
If you have a warm toned space with lots of creams, think of adding in darker shades of brown, deep greens, oranges & burgundy.
Now keep in mind that these are just suggestions on colour palettes and there are many colours that can work together well! Take these colours as inspiration if you are a little stuck and don't know where to begin.
Layering & Textures
Layering if the perfect way to add the cozy warm feeling that is essential come autumn. There is nothing better than curling up under a fuzzy throw blanket with the fireplace on when its chilly outside while your head is rested on a soft throw pillow.
Vary the sizes of your cushions, think some larger squares, smaller square and lumbar style. We even have some circle cushions coming into our store this season! Keep an eye out for those.
There are so many textures you can play with too! Don't be afraid to combine them to add interest to your space. For cushions and throws think faux fur, boucle, rich velvets and linen!
For decor items think woods, smoke glass stoneware and distressed metals.
Don't forget about your floors! Rugs are a great layers into a space. Not only does it give your feet a soft place to land but it will visually bring a space together and create a cozy atmosphere. You can add these in your living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens or in your bedroom!

Refresh with Seasonal Flowers
Beautiful fresh flowers can add a summery feel to your autumn home. To stick to an autumnal theme, choose reds, burnt oranges, ochres, soft greens. Pick seasonal flowers around your garden or at your local greenhouse. Intersperse foliage and branches with your flowers to create more depth.
Don't forget about the vase for your flowers! This is also a great opportunity to add a cozy touch to your space. Instead of a clear glass vase, think of using a smoked glass, metal or pottery. If you're using faux flowers wood vases are a great option too.
