Howie's Nasi Goreng
This recipe serves 8 people and takes approximately an hour to prepare
Ingredients
1 pkg of Conimex Nasi Goreng mix (purchased locally at K&K Foodliner)
2 cups of uncooked rice – cook as per pkg direction
3 eggs
2 chicken breasts
3 stalks celery – chopped (1 cup)
250g bacon – ½ pkg chopped
1 cup French cut cooking carrots
½ cup diced onion (about ¼ onion)
1/3 cup water (Conimex mix)
Sambal Oelek or similar (optional) – add to taste
Directions
1) Cook rice on stove top as per package instructions
2) Break eggs into non-stick frying pan and scramble while cooking. Remove from heat when finished and set aside
3) Combine Nasi Goreng flavour mix with water and stir until combined and set aside
4) Sauté bacon, celery, onion and carrots on low to medium heat in Scanpan non-stick frying pan. Cover with lid and cook thoroughly until bacon is cooked but not crisp.
5) Fry chicken breasts in non-stick frying pan at medium heat until white in centre.
6) Dice cooked chicken breasts into ¾ inch cubes and add to sauté pan.
7) Add 1/3 of cooked rice and 1/3 of Nasi Goreng flavour mix to sauté pan and mix. Repeat until all everything is combined.
8) Cover sauté pan with lid and let simmer on low heat for 10 minutes to let flavour combine.
9) Serve on plate. Add sambal oelek (optional) to taste
