Karen's German Apfelkuchen

Come sweater weather and fall just around the corner, we are starting to turn our thoughts indoors. And what a better way to warm up by whipping up some tasty fall favourite recipes. From pumpkin and maple to apple and cinnamon, there are so many recipes to share with you.

Karen's German Apfelkuchen

This recipe comes straight from Karen's cookbook and is a must try! It is super easy and you can substitute with your favourite seasonal fruit.

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup milk

- 2 cups flour

- 2 tsp baking powder

- 1 cup sugar

- 2 eggs

- 1/2 cup butter

- Pinch of salt

- Pinch of vanilla

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease a 12"x8" baking pan that is at least 3" deep.

2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Then add the flour, salt, and baking powder.

3. Add enough milk to make the dough creamy.

4. Spread the mixture in the greased baking pan.

5. Top with fruit and the crumb mixture (butter, flour, sugar, cinnamon)

Notes: Feel free to substitute the type of fruit to your liking.
